To truly grasp the essence behind my dedication to this profession, let me give you a condensed version of my knee journey.

In 2007, my life took a dramatic turn when I underwent a knee surgery that deviated from the industry norm, leaving me with an unsuccessful outcome. Desperate to salvage my left knee, I sought the expertise of a renowned knee surgeon in Cincinnati, OH, who specializes in complex cases. Week after week, from early 2008 to June 2009, I made the journey to the Cincinnati clinic for physical therapy and assessments. Unfortunately, in June 2009, it was determined that the bone and meniscal transplant could not be saved, leading to a six-week stay in Cincinnati.

Fast forward to August 2013, after numerous routine surgeries, it became evident that a total knee replacement was the only viable solution. In November 2019, I relocated my life once again, spending three months in Cincinnati for the replacement procedure and the subsequent arduous physical therapy. However, my insurance provider denied approval, citing my age and unexplored alternatives. Despite the letters and extensive X-rays provided by my orthopedic surgeon at UVA and the head surgeon in Cincinnati, my first appeal was rejected.

Determined to overcome this obstacle, I realized that securing a face-to-face meeting with the underwriters and head doctors employed by the insurance company was the only way to succeed. It was crucial to demonstrate that, without the kindness of my late grandparents, I would have faced financial ruin. Despite having excellent insurance coverage (which, a decade ago, cost over $800/month), my copayments for surgeries and physical therapy over the past five years were exorbitant. Moreover, I had to sacrifice my beloved job, return to school as a full-time student, and even relocate back home. I made it clear that the financial benefits would extend to all parties involved. This ordeal shaped my path and led me to where I am today.

Early on, I recognized the incredible privilege of having grandparents and parents who meticulously planned their retirement, ensuring a legacy for their children and grandchildren. However, I was acutely aware that I belonged to the fortunate few. This realization struck a chord within me. Throughout my extensive physical therapy and hospital stays, I encountered countless individuals who faced similar battles with their insurance carriers. They discovered that their insurance agents offered little assistance and struggled to find solutions to the impending financial burdens affecting not only themselves but also their families. Many had believed they had set aside sufficient funds, either independently or with the guidance of financial planners. I immediately recognized the need for compassionate and ethical retirement planners who draw from personal experiences and education to help individuals navigate the intricate landscape of planning for their future financial needs, including those of future generations.

What sets me apart as a planner is my boutique business model, prioritizing quality over quantity. As the sole entity in my business, I have the privilege of dedicating as much time and attention as necessary to my clients. Much of our work is conducted in the comfort of their homes, embracing an "around the kitchen table" approach. Another distinguishing aspect is my affiliation with a multitude of companies, as retirement planning cannot adhere to a "one size fits all" mentality. I value the flexibility to select and tailor the best avenues for each client's unique needs.

I am committed to providing you with the personalized attention and guidance you deserve as you embark on your retirement planning journey. My mission is to be your trusted partner, helping you navigate the complexities of retirement planning with compassion and integrity.
